Exodus 10:21-23
21 And Jehovah said to Moses, Stretch out thy hand toward the heavens, that there may be darkness in the land of Egypt—so that one may feel darkness.
22 And Moses stretched out his hand toward the heavens; and there was a thick darkness throughout the land of Egypt three days:
23 they saw not one another, neither rose any from his place, for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
As children of God sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we are in the world but not of the world (John 17:16-26). There is a temptation to forget that darkness is not something that we should be frightened of or tormented by.
As we know the light of God is within us yet, sometimes, because we find ourselves experiencing the same situations and circumstances as those that have not given their lives to God, we may even question “surely as a Christian I should not be going through this?”
Who made us that promise? It wasn’t our God, in fact the bible specifically warns us in Psalm 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him our of them all.”
We have an assurance from God that hardships will come but! He will bring us out of them all, even if He has to do a miraculous work albeit internally as well as externally.
Sometimes the miracle is, that we change before the situation does; we rise up and speak life and light and the power of the negative situation loses its footing and falls to the ground.
Sometimes the miracle is, that God places a distinction of light concerning you. “What do I mean a distinction of light?” That is where we find ourselves in this week’s text.
In Exodus 10:21-23 we find that The Lord God has commanded Moses to initiate the plague of darkness over the land of Egypt so that the people of God can be let go out of their captivity from the hands of pharaoh.
So far, God had released the plague of water turning to blood (Ex 7:19) the plague of frogs (Ex 8:2) and the plague of lice (Ex 8:16)
In each case God would use words such as “Everywhere in Egypt…” or “the whole country…” or “throughout the land of Egypt…” These plagues affected everyone in Egypt including the people of God, showing that we too are subject to the judgments of God.
Until the Lord placed a distinction or a divide between His people and the people of Egypt. When God pronounced the plague of the flies (Ex 8:22), He made a point of letting Pharaoh know that this divide was to make him see that God is Lord in the earth.
God continued on placing a distinction between His people for the rest of the plagues. Showing that He is the Righteous Judge, and He is in control.
All of the natural things that the Egyptians had made into their gods were now being judged and shown weak in comparison to the might of the Sovereign Lord our God. So, when the plague of darkness came, God’s people still had light in their homes.
All of the natural things that the Egyptians had made into their gods were now being judged and shown weak in comparison to the might of the Sovereign Lord our God.

We can draw a lot of strength from this account, through the shed blood of Jesus God has placed a distinction of light upon His people.
Yes, there are those of us that have endured the same hardships as those that may not know the Lord however, we are not destroyed.
The light of Christ shines brightly in darkness. In those tough moments God has shown that He has judged the darkness and it has no choice but to bow and flee.
Yes, there are those of us that have endured the same hardships as those that may not know the Lord however, we are not destroyed. 😍🙏🏾 #LightInDarkness #Jesus #SimplyMichMich Share on XWhat is your situation of ‘darkness?’ What is the thing that is trying to torment and intimidate you?
I will remind you that you are your Father’s son! You are your Father’s daughter! God has placed a distinction of light upon you. You are not of the world! The outcome is not the same, death and destruction is not your portion.
In Genesis 1:3 God said, “Let there be light” and there was light. In John 5:19 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; He can do only what He sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
Just as we’ve seen our Father command the light in darkness and chaos so we as His children can rise up and do the same in the Name of Jesus our Lord.
We have been empowered with the Holy Ghost, raise up and speak life and speak light and watch God move.
God has placed a distinction of light upon you.
This week we go forward with the assurance that God will bring us through, let’s pray and give thanks for the distinction of light that He has placed upon us. We speak life and we speak the light of Christ in every situation in Jesus Name.
This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.
Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
