Devotional Birth Before Labour Isaiah 66 Verse 7 to 9

Birth Before Labour (Isaiah 66:7-9)

Isaiah 66:7-9 (NKJV)

7 “Before she was in labor, she gave birth; Before her pain came, She delivered a male child. 8 Who has heard such a thing?Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children. 9 Shall I bring to the time of birth, and not cause delivery?” says the Lord.“Shall I who cause delivery shut up the womb?” says your God.

Have you ever heard of an overnight success? A sudden success, a sudden explosion of favour? Where the person or group of people achieve a very high success rate in very little time? They seem to come out of nowhere!

What a lot of people don’t mention is that it took many years and a lot of hardship to get to the stage being an overnight success. Looks can be deceiving, sometimes it takes a person 20 plus years to become an overnight success.

This is a principle that is not often highlighted. Think about some of the entrepreneurs that you see with super successful businesses or amazing athletes that seem to come out of nowhere and win gold.

It may seem to some, that you are the luckiest person in the world, but luck had nothing to do with it! It is the will of God for your life.

There are years of struggle, mistakes, failures and suffering that took place behind the scenes that no one except a close few get to see. Sometimes that suffering is multigenerational, others went before them and suffered so that their offspring or mentees could prosper later.

In our focus scripture, the prophet was speaking to God’s people in their failed and trembling state of mind. He was speaking words of comfort informing them of what was going to take place and the manner in which it was going to happen.

Because prophesy is three dimensional, speaking of what was, what is, and what is to come, all at once. In this chapter, the prophet was not only speaking about the return from the Babylonian captivity to come (Ezra 2&3). He was also speaking to the pious, fearful and humbled people that have been through the process of correction and are now upset with their fellow countrymen who are still caught up with idolatry. The prophet was also speaking about the explosion of the Spiritual Israel, the church, through faith in Christ Jesus (Joel 2:28).

It wasn’t the will or the intention of humanity it was the will and the intention of God. He sees beyond our current weaknesses and failures and He knows that there is greater in store! I ask you the question, where in your life have you had failure and trembling? Where in your life have you risen and fallen?

I have good news for you, Jesus has come for you to have life, and have it abundantly. You will rise again! The enemy of your soul may have come to kill steal and destroy but you have a ‘suddenly’ moment booked in the calendar book of God! He has set aside an appointed moment linked with your God given purpose and your destiny.

Remember that what we receive from God is birthed in our spirit first! Then comes the unfolding / revealing / manifestation, through the gateway of labour as we stay connected to God! That labour looks like faith in action, prayer, declarations, decrees, fasting, praise, worship along with obedience and yes, work.

It may even seem unfair to those that don’t know your story and didn’t see the struggle, it may even seem unfair to those who did. It may seem to some, that you are the luckiest person in the world, but luck had nothing to do with it! It is the will of God for your life.

It is not over yet! God has the final say, it shall be an explosion of favour and success that you could not have planned for even if you tried. It will be like an overnight success; the birth will come before the labour is due.

This is what it is like with God. He sees all things and he does not forget His people. Be comforted, God has not forgotten you, no matter what you are going through. God will establish His will and His will towards us, is just like His thoughts, it is good and not evil, to give us a future, a hope and bring us to an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).

Remember that we spoke about the multi-generational aspect of suffering earlier? The great thing is, God deals with generations and makes His covenant with a lineage not just an individual (God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob…).

This week as we review our goals and where we are headed let’s thank God for His established will and His thoughts towards us. What we have received from God is birthed in our spirit first! We can be assured that somehow and in some way, all thigs will work out for our good, those of us that love the Lord and have been called according to His purpose.

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.

Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
