God has Sent us His Helper to Remember
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 14:26
The bags were heavy and the load almost too much for one person to carry by themselves. I could see that the lady was determined to make it to the car from the supermarket. She was breathing heavily as she used all the strength and will that she had, to lift the bags and carry them to the car.
All of a sudden, a younger man with obvious physical strength (maybe her son) ran up to the lady as though he were catching up with her and took the bags from her, opened the trunk of the car (in the UK we say boot) and placed the shopping inside.
You could see the relief warmly spread across the lady’s face as she walked quite freely to the passenger side and got in.
As I people watched that afternoon, I thought about the help that God gives when we are at our lowest yet determined to continue. The fire didn’t go out, we still love God, we’re still determined to live a life of victory.
But what happens when our will is not enough? When our strength is not enough for the task ahead? Sometimes the task ahead is simply to survive and come through the ordeal?
In that moment of awareness of our own limitations, God had already sent us His Helper the Holy Spirit. At that precise moment, the Word of God kicks in and we start to remember that ‘we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us’.
Do we suddenly develop superhuman strength? Maybe not but He gives us the emotional strength to get up again when we think that we’ve fallen and have nothing left to give. He was the one that brought that scripture Philippians 4:13 to our remembrance.
The Holy Spirit is the one to work in your heart not to give up no matter how we cry, how we grieve or how we hurt. He sends individuals alongside us to pray for us, share a kind word and even make us chuckle through the tears.
He will find some small way to let you know that He is with you and He is for you. He helps us to remember our Abba Father the tender-hearted loving God that is our Saviour in times of trouble and our Victor in times of triumph and joy.
As we are spending time with God this week let’s give thanks to God for The Holy Spirit who helps us to remember.
This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.
