Devotional Rest And Enter Into New Beginnings Leviticus 23 Verse 24

Rest and Enter into New Beginnings (Leviticus 23:24)

Leviticus 23:24 (ESV)

24 “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation.

This bible scripture introduces us to the feast of trumpets otherwise known as Rosh Hashanah, which means “the head of the year”.

It is a beautiful picture of the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are encouraged to rest at this time. This speaks of the eternal sabbath rest that we have as a people of God, we don’t try to work endlessly to figure out our next move on our own. We depend on the Lord God to direct, orchestrate and guide us by the Holy Spirit at work within us.

It doesn’t mean that we blindly wonder through life without a plan, but that we restfully submit to God and want His plan for our life to be carried out. So, we go into our prayer time with God with a purpose, we want to hear from Him concerning His plan for our lives and the lives of those we will impact. We want to spend time with God to behold His beauty and to set our sights on someone other than ourselves.

This is the time to remember that we have a new beginning in God through Christ Jesus, we have a tremendous hope. It’s a season to draw a line under whatever has happened and repent and return to God concerning any area that has veered out of alignment with God’s will. Remember, this doesn’t have to be a sin, it could be as simple as spending more time with God or drawing closer to Him rather than busying ourselves with other matters, etc.

The truth of the matter is, the world has advanced into a stage of chaos mankind’s best efforts are just not enough to get ahead. We need the supernatural power of God who lovingly makes Himself available to His children at any time.… Share on X

This is a time to sit at the feet of Jesus like Mary in Luke 10:38-42 you and I have the opportunity to drink in the presence of our dear Lord. To really take hold of the ‘better thing’ which is the revealed Word of God through devotional time with Him. It doesn’t mean that all other things must be left flapping in the wind unattended, however, we must put first things first, and God is first!

We want to spend time with God to behold His beauty and to set our sights on someone other than ourselves.

Out of beautiful quality time with the Lord comes greater wisdom, witty inventions, supernatural guidance, patience, peace, love, faith and uncommon favour that we did not deserve. Grace is extended to us on a major level, we then find ourselves moving into a place of advancement and progress in the face of darkness, we are the light of the world that Jesus spoke about in Matthew 5:14.

We could run about like Martha doing the things that must be done, however, Jesus is giving us the opportunity to be Mary and restfully sit before we walk into the better thing. Jesus affirmed that it will not be taken from Mary, and by His virtue it will not be taken from us.

The truth of the matter is, the world has advanced into a stage of chaos mankind’s best efforts are just not enough to get ahead. We need the supernatural power of God who lovingly makes Himself available to His children at any time.

It’s down to us to rest in Him and take His hand and come up higher to hear what God will say. In Jeremiah 33:3 God encourages us that we should:

‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

He has also given us amazing power to speak and decree His word and to enforce His promises concerning our situations with faith believing that all things work for the good of those who love the Lord and who are called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28).

At the head of the year it’s up to you, dare to sit restfully at the fee of Jesus to receive the direction from the Lord. Rest and enter into the new beginnings that God has in store for you.

Happy and fruitful new year ahead!

Blessings

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.

Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
