The Power of the Tongue (Proverbs 18:21)
Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
On a hot summer’s day crack open the fridge and take out and eat a ripe beautiful piece of fruit that has been chilling full of its natural juice cold and ready to eat. It is one of the most satisfying things in the world.
When you speak life instead of death you will be satisfied with the consequences as eating that wonderful piece of fruit.
There are consequences to our speech, speak death (negatively) or life (positively) and the fullness of that word shall be experienced in some way in your life, that is the consequence of speech.
Matthew 12:37 puts it this way:
37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
People have lived and people have died by the words that came out of their mouths. Some were noble words some were not, but it was by ‘word/ speaking’ that action was taken.
It is by word that we are saved, it is by the foolishness of preaching that we come to the salvation of the Lord (1 Corinthians 1:21).
Our tongue holds the key, how we use it determines what will be requited back to us.
Be on guard watchfully and affectionately consider your words in this season, not from a position of fear but confidence, because you are writing the fabric of your tomorrow with your tongue.
This week let’s thank God for guiding us and providing His Word for us to walk in His ways and speak as He speaks. With the creative power that He has given us in our mouths and His Word and His Spirit, through Christ Jesus He has given us the winning advantage to life.
This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.
Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
