Devotional Contend Earnestly For The Faith Jude 3

Contend Earnestly for the Faith (Jude 3)

Jude 3 (NKJV)

3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

I was on my way to Jamaica on holiday one day and as I waited for my flight, I saw a procession of flight attendants, a pilot and co-pilot float by.

Seeing the captain and first officer made me think about the similarities of Jesus and us when it comes to our lives.

The Captain is the one with ultimate responsibility and is the legal commander of the aircraft, the first officer (co-pilot) will assume command of the aircraft when given the go-ahead from the Captain (for any number of reasons).

They work together and share in the activity of keeping the aircraft moving towards its destination.

In many ways this is a beautiful illustration of a life in Jesus, although He is the Commander in control; He hands the controls over to us and expects us to maintain course towards the destination.

This is where we must be clear of our responsibility to keep going, not to become so distracted and overwhelmed that we cannot hear the voice of our Captain guiding us and steering us towards our destiny

Some may say “use the autopilot” but to a Christian autopilot is a very dangerous word. To fly along with no pilot at the controls is an open door for the enemy to walk in and wreak havoc in our lives.

Relying on just the external factors, the technologies of this age, the assumptions of others is a recipe for a bumpy ride.

God will allow us to travel through some very high and very low places both of which have very unique atmospheres. This is where it takes the full attention and engagement of both the Captain and the co-pilot to work together to keep that aircraft on course.

We cannot allow anything or anyone to creep in and sabotage what the Captain of our faith has given to us. 🙏🏾🔥❤️ #Faith #Jesus #Devotional #SimplyMichMich Click To Tweet

Are there any areas in your life where the autopilot has been left on? In this scripture we are being encouraged to contend earnestly for our faith. We cannot allow anything or anyone to creep in and sabotage what the Captain of our faith has given to us.

This word is encouraging us to be intentional to remain in what we believe, make plans, set aside time, be determined, watchful and pray

Don’t allow autopilot to lead you into unnecessary turbulence, contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

Some may say “use the autopilot” but to a Christian autopilot is a very dangerous word.

This week let’s ask God to open our eyes and our ears, to alert us to any area in our lives that we have left on autopilot and to help us to listen to the Captain of our faith to help us navigate the territory in which He is leading us.

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.

Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.

Take Care x
