Devotional Face To Face With God Exodus 33:11

Face to Face With God (Exodus 33:11)

Exodus 33:11 (KJV)

11 And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

There is something about the deep conversations that you share with a trusted friend that cannot be compared with any aloof acquaintance.

There is always a guarded gate where your deep secrets lay when it comes to colleagues and even with casual friends, they know you, but they don’t know you

They’ve never seen you in your most vulnerable state, they don’t know your hidden weaknesses they can’t see your frame, how you’re put together, they’ve never seen you truly undone.

It seems that there is a privilege that only belongs to the very closest people in our lives. They get to experience the true person of who we are, intimately, face to face.

We don’t have to put a mask on for them, we don’t have to fix our face a certain way or even take a shower before we see them (although the latter would be beneficial for all concerned).

We can cry, laugh, tell the truth and hear the truth from those who are close to us (even if we don’t like it), we can just be real.

Moses is having the same such experience with God in this scripture, he is speaking with God intimately. It is straight after this encounter, that Moses dares to ask God to show him His Glory (Exodus 33:18) Some translations read “Show me thine own self”.

Moses wanted to see this Great Almighty God that had spoken to him so intimately, face to face. After all that they had gone through at this point, Moses wanted to know who he was walking with.

Depending on our life experience some of us may find it difficult to let our guard down. Sometimes people may not be who they appear to be, the one person that we can guarantee is trustworthy, is our Almighty God.

Jesus is the trusted friend that you can be honest with, tell all your troubles to and share all your triumphs with and know that He will never betray you.

Let’s face it, He already knows everything and still loves us, so why stay afar? We can give Him all the areas in our life, even the messy ugly stuff, that’s His specialty.

As we draw closer to God, He will draw closer to us (James 4:8) He will never force His way in but will rather, wait to be invited.

We give thanks to God that we have someone to hope in, to run to and someone to trust. There has never been a time in our modern-day life where this is needed more than now.

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.

Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.

Take Care x
