Devotional Faith Tense Is Important Isaiah 53:5

Faith Tense is Important (Isaiah 53:5)

5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5

Usually when we think of the ‘tense’ within a sentence we relate this to ‘past, present and future’ tense, these are verb-based markers that indicate time in relation to the author and the reader. This also lets us know the state of completion or the state of progress regarding a thing, a condition, a person or a place.

For example, “You will be healed” – We can gather from the tense used, that the healing is yet to take place (future tense).

“You have were healed” – We see from the tense used that the healing has already taken place (past tense).

“You are healed” – Here we learn from the tense used that healing is the current condition (present tense).

That’s good grammar, right?

Now let’s look at this, as God is the person speaking and we are the reader He is addressing.

Sometimes perfect grammar in the English language doesn’t fit into the way that God speaks, English can be limiting. Rather than use ‘past, present, future’ tense traditionally within the structure of a sentence, we have to use what I like to call, “Faith Tense”.

This is when you pay no attention to perfect grammar, but you pay full attention to perfect faith and speak from the perspective of eternity which is outside of time and therefore not limited to or dominated by time.

The Bible says in Romans 4:17

17 … even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Poor grammar but perfect faith – “Faith Tense.”

“God calls those things which be not as though they were (is this correct?) surely according to English grammar this should say ‘… as though they are’ (as in, being present in our everyday reality now, not ‘were’ as in our past) however, this is Faith Tense at work here.

From eternity’s perspective God is already well past that thing He has seen beyond everything that is about to play out in our everyday life, Isaiah 46:10 says He declares the end from the beginning… therefore, as far as God is concerned that thing has already happened and we are well past that thing in Him, even if it is yet to manifest in our lives.

He knows that He is able to bring you through the toughest trial, there are no what-ifs or maybes. Perfect faith no matter how small, brings about a connection between our now and eternity and that is what creates the conditions that bring about the change, the miracles and wonders.

This is one of the blessings of being born again, we have access to everything we need through our relationship with God by faith in Christ Jesus revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.

Without faith, there is no real connection, without the connection, the thing that we are asking God for can’t get through to us, just like our WiFi signal, make sure there’s a strong connection.

Jesus has already obtained our healing for us by going to the cross and made it available to us right now, we ARE healed now! Today. The key is our faith. 🔥❤️ Jesus #SimplyMichMich Click To Tweet

So, going back to our scripture ‘by His stripes we ARE healed’ we are not going to be healed ‘someday’. Jesus has already obtained our healing for us by going to the cross and made it available to us right now, we ARE healed now! Today. The key is our faith.

We now need to apply our faith, believe that we have the healing, release the power of God’s Word, command our healing to manifest; listen out for the prompting of the Holy Spirit as He may reveal something hidden that needs to be addressed.

We stand on our faith until creation submits, catches up and fulfils its obligation to obey the Word of the LORD spoken by the children of God.

This week let’s ask God to help us to move into greater manifestations of His grace (undeserved favour) and help us to demonstrate that we are the children of God in the earth by faith in Christ Jesus.

Also, help us to believe Him to use us to speak healing in the broken areas of our lives, both in a broad sense concerning our nations and a narrower sense regarding specific issues in our personal lives and see the change we are expecting in our generations.

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.
