Fresh Living Word Forever (Isaiah 40:8)

8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Isaiah 40:8 (KJV)

Recently I was handed a beautiful bouquet of flowers, immediately I put them up to my nose, closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. The temperature felt cool and fresh like cut grass, the aroma like a spring garden in the morning after the April showers and sweet perfume all rolled into one. Just beautiful.

When I opened my eyes and looked at the amazing intricacy of the veins running through the petals and the leaves, the colours swirling and merging; the ombres, the hues. I began to marvel at the Awesome Creator that is our God.

I promptly put them in a vase of water, set them on the table in my hallway and went on with my day enjoying them every time I passed them.

Many days went by and before I knew it the same lovely flowers began to droop and dry up, the colours began to fade and soon the beautiful aroma of the bouquet was gone, all in a matter of days.

In this scripture, the author makes an observation and comes to the conclusion that the Word of God isn’t like the grass that withers or like my beautiful bouquet of flowers that quickly fade away.

You can trust in the Word of God that it remains forever. I’ve said it before, God keeps His promises even if He has to find another generation in which to fulfil it. If He said it, He will do it, this is something that we can be assured of.

The Word of God isn’t stale even though it has been around since before the earth was made. In Hebrews 11:3 the Word of God says that the worlds were framed by that very same Word. There is a refreshing aspect to God’s Word that can breathe new life into our perspective, the way we see a situation and can give us the strength to keep going.

Sometimes the enormity of the obstacle can frighten us or try to convince us that it is just too much, but not with God. I have found while studying His Word that God often makes us the promise first so that it will be something we can hold on to in the difficult times.

Has God given you His Word? Was there something that He showed you and now it looks impossible? I encourage you, hold on to that Word it will not fade away it will remain forever.

God’s Word can outlast trouble and turmoil hold on to it, speak it, thank Him for it, plan for it, prepare for it, pray over it, war over it and war using it. It will come to pass even if it seems like it is taking a long time. It will stand and will not lie.

This week let’s thank God for His everlasting Word that doesn’t fail. Ask Him to strengthen us as we hold on despite what we face. We chose to trust in His Word, we shall see the reward, keep holding on to His Word. God can be trusted.

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.

Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
