Hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17)

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Have you ever had a song that got stuck in your head all day! No matter what you did you found yourself humming the tune? Even when we weren’t even conscious of the fact that we were doing it?

God made us to retain what we hear, see and experience on a conscious and subconscious level.

At times people that we spend time with can rub off on us and we find ourselves picking up mannerisms and styles of speech of those that we’ve been around.

Sometimes this can be a good thing and sometimes maybe not depending on who we’ve been around and what we’ve been listening to.

The more we spend time with God, the more His good nature; the way He speaks, His perspective, His attitude, His heart, the way He does things, rubs off on us.

Our scripture reminds us that faith comes from hearing and by hearing the Word of God.

Have you ever thought about the mechanism of reading in your mind and not out aloud? Do you think that faith would come from reading the Word of God silently and not out aloud to hear?

Absolutely!! Certainly so!

Because even though you are reading without making a sound, your mind is processing what you are reading as though it were sound. Even though the way your brain received the word was completely different (acoustic sound waves vs light signals carried by electromagnetic waves).

There are studies being conducted relating to this subject, they found that the way that the brain recorded the electromagnetic waves while silently reading preserved the same structure as the mechanical sound waves of air that would be recorded, just as if those words had been uttered.

Because even though you are reading without making a sound, your mind is processing what you are reading as though it were sound

Therefore, no matter what, faith comes, because we hear God’s word when we listen and when we read, faith still comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Jesus reminds us that the words that He speaks are ‘Spirit and they are life’ (John 6:63)

So, when we interact with God as His children, we can be confident that there is a transmitting from Him to us otherwise known as an impartation. He knows what you need and when you need it. Let’s allow our faith to come and rise up to receive what we need from our loving Heavenly Father.

This week let’s approach Him with this truth settled in our heart, the more time we spend with God, the more opportunities we give ourselves to receive the amazing gift of His presence and when we are in His presence, we are never the same again, for the better.

We believe even though we’ve not yet seen, this is faith! And all of this comes by the hearing of the word of God.

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.

Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
