See Past Right Now to All Generations (Psalm 33:11)

I like to just sit and watch my aunty in the kitchen (before I end up getting roped into the cooking)😊

I learn so much from her, she shows me the secrets to get the right taste in the rice and peas (my family settled in England from Jamaica). When it comes to getting a recipe right, I still go to my Mum and my Aunt to seek their counsel even if I’m sure I know what I’m doing.

Another word for counsel is advice; the ‘advice’ of the Lord stands forever. There’s nothing like the advice from someone that has gone before you, they know all the pitfalls and how to manoeuvre around them. 

In this scripture, we are assured that the counsel of the Lord is permanent and sure, and God’s plans are generational.

There’s a comfort and a quiet confidence that comes from having the right knowledge, the inside information, an assurance that you know what to do and how to carry yourself in every situation. 

It could be a business deal, it could be a recipe, it could be the running of a country, a church or anything.

One of my favourite scriptures is Isaiah 46:10: 

¹⁰ I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’

This is the sovereignty of God He knows the end from the beginning… this is the person that I would prefer to get advice from! wouldn’t you?

When God interacts with us He is not just dealing with us today, He sees beyond and past our today. He sees us as a house not just a building for Him (1 Corinthians 3:9) but His lineage. We are the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26)

He is making promises to our children’s children and beyond as His people and His Kingdom in the earth. 

We see this modelled in the life of Abraham, God made a covenant with Isaac Abraham’s son, who had not yet been conceived along with his descendants after him (through whom, Jesus the Messiah would come) all while He was speaking with Abraham (Genesis 17:19-21).

Faith is the key to the Gate (Jesus), faith is the operation, the language and the currency (substance) of God’s Kingdom.

That is how God’s Kingdom operates, we interact in the authoritative language of faith. Faith is the key to the Gate (Jesus), faith is the operation, the language and the currency (substance) of God’s Kingdom.

We call those things which be not as though they were (Romans 4:17), just like our Heavenly Father, in an environment that is not favourable and is not supportive to the likelihood of the outcome.

Nevertheless the outcome will manifest as all creation responds to God’s word spoken in faith. We do it and our children will do it and our children’s children will do it. All generations in Christ Jesus will do it.

His heart is for multiple generations before and after us. God is a generational God; He places His name for all generations (Exodus 3:14-15) to call upon Him not just this year or this lifetime but forever. 

The question I ask is, are we multigenerational people? Or are we living for the here and now, not considering any generation but our own?

How does the life that we lead, the decisions that we make and the way that we relate to God and others demonstrate that we are a multigenerational people?

Maybe some of us can see those who came before us and maybe as far as our children’s children, but can we see beyond that? Here’s the thing… God does. 

God is giving us the strategy, the healing and the breakthrough because He has made promises and agreements with our children and their children. Are we praying and seeking for a breakthrough for the same reason?

Could it be that God is waiting for us to come into agreement with Him like Abraham did concerning Isaac and those who are coming next? 

It’s not just about us, it’s about who’s coming after us. Is this showing up in our prayers? Are we appealing to God from this perspective?

This week as we appeal to God concerning our current situations, let’s appeal on behalf of those who are yet to come who God knows, has an agreement with and has predestined to be His. Let’s see past right now, to all generations because we love and serve a generational God. 

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.
