Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Have you ever seen children playing pin the tail on the donkey? The child is blindfolded spun around. They then have to navigate to the picture of a donkey stuck to the wall in an attempt to pin it’s tail on it’s rear end, while the other children shout the direction they think the child should go.
Those that are guiding the player do so from their perspective and not the player’s perspective, so often times the player falls, trips, pins the tail in the wrong place, all in good fun and excitement.
The player that is closest to pinning the tail in the right place on the donkey despite all the obstacles wins the game.
When others try to define who we are from their perspective we can be a little like the child playing pin the tail on the donkey. Blindly wandering around listening to the guidance of others who can’t see the whole picture.
God, on the other hand, knows the whole picture and He knew each and every one of us before we were conceived…

God, on the other hand, knows the whole picture and He knew each and every one of us before we were conceived to be born as our scripture lets us know.
God said “I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations” I wonder who God has ordained you to be?

God may use human beings to confirm the call on your life, however, it is helpful to remember that people respond to what they see and experience from their perspective unless it is revealed to them by the Holy Spirit.
You may recall Jesus asking His disciples “Who do men say that I am?”
After they repeated some of the far-fetched opinions and speculations of others, it was Simon Peter that said, “you are the Christ the Son of the living God.”
Jesus then answered and said to him “Blessed are you Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 16:13-17)
It was God that revealed exactly who Jesus was to Peter and not Peter in his humanity. Likewise, it is God that will reveal who He ordained you to be and not the opinions of others.
The key is to always pay attention to what God shows you, or stirs up within you, or repeats to you time and time again. Even if it seems inconvenient, too expensive or just impossible; He is the God of the impossible, He is preparing your heart for the impossible.
It is God that has the plan, and we are ordained by God who knew us before the foundation of the world was even laid (Ephesians 1:4)
This week we walk in this fundamental truth that Jeremiah 1:5 makes known to us, that it is God that calls and ordains and not the opinions of man.
Let’s thank God for being the one with the plan, let’s go back to God and ask Him what our next step should be. Shall we pursue? Or shall we sit still? What a blessed assurance it is to walk with Jesus who not only gave us the great commission but has also said “I ordained thee…”
Walk in that assurance this day, God has ordained you and not yourself, only remain humble and do not depart from God’s Word which is His will. Everything that God has said, let it unfold in your life for His glory.
This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.
Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
