John 15:15 (KJV)
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
The children sat in a straight line all 20 of them and they began their communication experiment.
The teacher started by speaking a simple phrase, she whispered it to the first person in the line, that person, in turn, whispered what they had heard to the next, and so on and so on.
By the time the teacher had walked over to the child who was last to receive the message, it was completely different.
Something had happened along the way, the message had gotten lost in translation as they say.
You see, in order for the message to remain unaltered, the originator of the message would need to be actively engaged with each and every child that received it.
And this is how God likes to work with us, active engagement.
In this scripture, Jesus is assuring His disciples that He sees them as more than servants. He sees them as friends; therefore, He is actively engaging with each and every one of them.
In doing so Jesus is ensuring that the Originator of the message is able to transmit it, in such a way, that it can never be lost.
Today we continue on in that friendship with God and He also considers us to be His children by faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26). He has also made His home inside of us (1 Corinthians 3:16), that is active engagement on a whole other level.
This week let’s give thanks to God for reminding us of His friendship and His love, He has chosen to live within us to ensure that the true message of who He is and why He came to die for our sins is never lost in translation.
