Worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:23-24)

John 4:23-24 (KJV)

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Have you ever handled a counterfeit coin or a counterfeit bank note? Or seen it on TV? Something about it may feel off or not look right; you may not be an expert in currency, but you know something might be different.

This is because, when you’ve been truly exposed to the real thing for long enough you have an ingrained intimate experience that informs you of what is real and what is not, even if you cannot pinpoint or articulate exactly what it is.

No one has to tell you, deep down, you know that you know God is real. That deep down ‘knowing’ is the Spirit of God bearing witness with your spirit that you are His child (Romans 8:16). You don’t need to be dragged kicking and screaming, it is what it is, plain and simple.

God is looking for His people to spend time worshipping Him authentically, because He is authentic. He is the one true and living God (Jeremiah 10:10) He is the way the truth and the life (John 14:6).

Falsified religious rituals do not interest God, He looks at the heart of a person when they are worshipping Him. He longs for us to worship Him with our hearts not just with our mouths (Isaiah 29:13). Paying lip service to God never amounts to anything good.

The hour has come in this day and age when we are dealing with some very real issues and we need the very real God above all gods and the very real Sovereign Lord above every lord. 🔥🔥❤️ #Devotional #JesusLovesYou #SimplyMichMich Share on X

The hour has come in this day and age when we are dealing with some very real issues and we need the very real God above all gods and the very real Sovereign Lord above every lord.

It’s not a ‘head thing’ it’s a matter of the spirit and a matter of the heart. Intellectual reasoning cannot reach high enough to approach God. Because God is a Spirit and more than just ‘a spirit’ but He is the Father of spirits (Hebrews 12:9) He requires us to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

As you read this, I pray that the Holy Spirit is stirring within you so that you are reminded of who God is, and that you answer from your own personal point of view.

Simply MichMich

We are encouraged to allow our worship of God to be birthed out of a real place, not copying someone else or to curry favour from a distant being ‘up there’ somewhere.

What place are you birthing your worship of God from? Is it a place of adoration? Do you adore Him? Is your worship birthed from a place of love? Do you love Him? Or maybe gratitude? Or loyalty?

As you read this, I pray that the Holy Spirit is stirring within you so that you are reminded of who God is, and that you answer from your own personal point of view.

His heart is so beautiful, the way He loves is like none other! God is truly distinct, Holy, there is only One. We worship God for who He is, and we praise God for what He does.

All of it comes from a real experience with God and perhaps this is why Jesus said “My sheep know my voice and a stranger they will not follow…” (John 10:5&27).

When you spend time to get to know Him as He allows us to, anything foreign sends alarm bells.

This week as we reflect and draw close to God, let’s be conscious of the worship that we offer Him. Remember that He doesn’t have to accept what is offered, our prayer is that may God always receive the worship that we offer from our hearts. May it be a sweet savour to Him and cause God to draw us ever closer to Him in beautiful fellowship.

Metaphorically speaking, may we draw so close that we find rest in His bosom and feel the heartbeat of God just as a young child in their father’s safe embrace.

Let’s worship our Heavenly Father in Spirit and in Truth.

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.

Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.

Take Care x
