Deuteronomy 4:20 (KJV)
20 But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be His people, an inheritance, as you are this day.
The young lady nearly choked on her coffee when she was given the valuation for her precious locket that had been given to her by her mother, who had been given the beautiful piece of jewellery by her mother before her.
The room fell silent as though as much time as possible was being afforded to the young lady to allow the news to sink in.
The valuation clerk cleared his throat and asked her if she intended to sell the locket or wanted to keep it.
Without a single second to waste she told the clerk in no uncertain terms that she wanted to keep the locket.
“Understood” the man replied as he carefully put away his writing pad and pen. The young lady didn’t even give it another thought.
This locket may have been highly valuable, an antique even; she could certainly get a good price for it.
However, the personal value it held far exceeded anything that could’ve been offered because it came to her through a loving relationship that she valued more than anything.
The value was established in the relationship.
We the church are an inheritance belonging to Jesus. Our value isn’t in our external aesthetics our value is in the relationship we share together with our Lord God.
Just as the young lady’s locket had a generational value, so we have a generational value to God. We are coming from a mighty long way.

I can image that young lady looking at that locket and in her deep thoughts seeing it around the neck of her grandmother, maybe in a portrait or a photograph.
Maybe her mother wore it on her wedding day, the memories that must have been stirred up when she held it.
Can you imagine what memories are stirred up in the heart of our Heavenly Father every time He looks at you? Every time He surrounds you and holds you in a tough time? The joy that fills His heart when you rejoice?
The prayers, the victories and the triumphs, the promises that God made to people that interceded for the nation that you were born into?
The subject of you overcoming your trials and difficulties and achieving your dreams is only a part of the picture. We are part of a bigger conversation that God was having long before we were born. 🙏🏾💖 #Devotional #JesusLovesYou… Share on XThe subject of you overcoming your trials and difficulties and achieving your dreams is only a part of the picture. The fact that we are born again is a demonstration of God fulfilling His promise to Abraham (Gen 18:18, 22:18 & Galatians 3:7-9) I reiterate, we come from a mighty long way and to this very day we are still His.
We still belong to God, we are His inheritance and He is ours.
As we start our week, we can give God praise that He chose us way back before we were born. Thank God for keeping His promise to Abraham even though Abraham went home to glory a long time ago.
Every time we say hallelujah, we testify of the faithfulness of God the Promise Keeper. Without that promise we wouldn’t even know Him to be able to praise Him.
To be His people is to be the fulfilment of His promise and for that we give Him glory.
This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.
Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
