Devotional I Set You Apart Jeremiah 1 Verse 5

I Set You Apart (Jeremiah 1:5)

Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT)

5 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

We are appointed before birth, we are ordained by God before we are even physically conceived. This is something to remember as we journey through our lives, our interests and our giftings are not coincidental.

We all have a purpose to fulfil, the most beautiful thing with God is He never wastes anything. Even the most painful or frustrating aspects of our life God can turn it around and use it for good. He is able to heal the deepest of hurts and restore the greatest of trespasses. There is no pain in this Earth that Heaven can not heal.

God has already seen our entire lineage span before we even got here. He inhabits eternity, in Isaiah 66:1 God tells us that “The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool…” He is outside of time and sees everything all at once and not linear in a timeline like us.

In the book of Ecclesiastes 3:11 we also discover that God has set eternity in our hearts for a specific reason. So that we couldn’t comprehend God’s work in its entirety i.e. from the end to the beginning without God. We need God in order to work out our God-given purpose. That makes perfect sense! This is a game changer!! In a time where everyone is trying desperately to figure out ‘what is my purpose?’ God has extended His hand for us to walk it out with Him, because the truth is we won’t be able to fully work it out without Him.

God has set us apart, not wanting us to walk separate from Him, to give us the satisfaction of ‘doing life’ with Jesus which is the greatest joy. 🙏🏾❤️😘 #Jesus #SimplyMichMich Share on X

God has set us apart, not wanting us to walk separate from Him, to give us the satisfaction of ‘doing life’ with Jesus. There is nothing more gratifying than spending time with God receiving a word from Him, praying it through, acting on His instructions, waiting on Him and then seeing the manifestation of the promise that He made. Even when we have to go through some tough times, there is a peace that comes from knowing you are doing what God told you to do.

There is even a confidence that we will not be utterly destroyed if we mistakenly thought it was God speaking and it was our own spirit. Psalm 37:23-24 says:

23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.

We might stumble but God will redirect us through our mistakes. We have been set apart, there are different desires deep within our heart to those who are of the world. Could it be, this is why some of us are not satisfied until we are doing a particular kind of work even though it doesn’t appear to be the obvious or the accepted thing to do?

God has set aside provision for this work just for you! God has hidden treasure set aside for you to fulfil His purpose. We see this in Isaiah 45:3 when the prophesy of king Cyrus was spoken approximately 150 years before he lived. There was a purpose that God had for king Cyrus that would ensure the release of God’s people from the Babylonian captivity.

God has already seen our entire lineage span before we even got here.

The most exciting thing about this is Cyrus was a pagan king, so my question to you is this, if God can do this for a pagan king that didn’t even know Him, how much more will God do for you and I that do?

Second question, if the people of God were delivered from the Babylonian captivity because God used Cyrus, how many people are in some form of captivity today waiting for God to use you?  Just like Jeremiah and just like Cyrus, God knew you ‘before’ you were in your mother’s womb, before you were born, He set you apart for a special purpose. Take His hand and let God lead you into your destiny, many are waiting.

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.

Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.

Take Care x
