Luke 15:10 (KJV)
10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
What a powerful gift we have received from God called ‘repentance’. We read about the healings, we see the deliverance, we hear the prophesies. We know about the gifts of the spirit and it is all amazing.
I am so excited to see what God will do in our midst that will bring glory to His name. What I am most excited about is the kind of gift that can make angels rejoice in heaven. The gift of repentance!
This gift of repentance shuts down the devil and stops him in his tracks. When a sailboat has a good wind in its sales it moves with efficiency through the waters as though it might be unstoppable. Yet with all its power and certainty of course, all it takes is for a change in the direction of the wind and that sailboat is dead in the water.
That is what repentance is to satan, it knocks the wind out of his sails because when we genuinely repent, we literally change direction. Repentance means to change your mind acknowledge the wrongdoing, be remorseful, turn away from the sin and turn to God.
All the ammunition the devil had against you is gone in an instant! And he can’t control it, another reminder to satan of the terrible defeat he suffered and continues to suffer when Jesus triumphed on the cross.
While everyone thought Jesus was suffering and losing, actually He was winning. When we humble ourselves before God, the gloat and the glee of the enemy is short lived.
This is how you grow in your obedience to God; the bible says that Jesus learned obedience through the things that He suffered (Hebrews 5:8)🙏🏾💕🔥 #JesusIsLord #Bible #SimplyMichMich Share on XThis is the power and the gift of humility and repentance; suffer the loss, feel the bitter sting as you go down and humble yourself. Say you are sorry, even allow the enemy to gloat and dance at your supposed demise, let them talk.
Because while you feel the pain, Jesus is right there with you, especially when you were the one in the wrong, especially when you made the mistake. Now you are the perfect candidate for a thing called ‘redemption’.
The love of Jesus is attracted to you in this state, He’s looking to draw you back to Himself, He made the purchase with His blood, now He takes you back. This is redemption! Now He can talk to you and you are in a posture of heart to really hear and understand Him and know His voice.
If any seasoned Christian is being honest, they will tell you that it wasn’t in the good times that they learned to hear the voice of God. No, it was when they were in the toughest times of their life. That is how you are taught to discern the voice of God, through the tough times.
This is how you grow in your obedience to God; the bible says that Jesus learned obedience through the things that He suffered (Hebrews 5:8).
God will use the plentiful commodity of suffering, this fallen world has this in bucketloads, He won’t waste it, God will use it to train His children on to greatness. Sometimes it’s a consequence of our own decision making and sometimes it is not.
God promises that if we humble ourselves under His mighty hand, in due season He will exalt us (1 Peter 5:6). He also promised that after you suffer a little while He will perfect you, establish, strengthen and settle you (1 Peter 5:10).
No wonder the angels are rejoicing, they know what’s coming, it’s not just about the initial salvation event it’s about the victorious salvation journey.
This is power and the gift of humility and repentance.
This week let’s give thanks to God that He has allowed us to be able to repent and turn back to our first love. In life we all need the redemptive work of the cross and the blood of Jesus to speak even better things on our behalf. As Jesus stands and mediates for us, let us examine ourselves before the Lord and repent of anything that God shows us. Let those that are lost find their way home and let there be rejoicing in Heaven.
This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.
Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
Take Care x
