Devotional Make a Joyful Noise Unto The Lord Psalm 100

Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord (Psalm 100)

Psalm 100 (KJV)

1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

As I sat in the community library in the middle of South London, I could hear the noise of a group of young school children approaching afar off.

Today was their day to visit the library and pick out their favourite books and find some new ones, use computers and listen to music, find new things to do. You could hear the life, the excitement and the joy just bubbling up and over.

As they got nearer to the library entrance the volume increased. Not just because of their physical proximity but also because their expectation had been engaged and they were looking forward to what was to come.

I could hear the amazing teachers and their assistants addressing the energised group as they stood outside the doorway to try and calm the hopping 5-year olds before they entered the quietness of the library.

Witnessing this joyful scene helped me to understand the importance of approaching God with a praise. We are reminded in our scripture this week to make a joyful noise unto the Lord.

As we approach God, thank Him, praise Him, have an expectation that bubbles over with energy and joy! Just like those little 5-year olds without care or hinderance.

God can do anything! There is so much enrichment in the presence of God. He is so good that even though things may look and feel difficult in our everyday surroundings, God will always work all things together for His people.

In verse 3 we are reminded of the reason why we serve Him with gladness and praise Him, making a joyful noise. It is God that made us, we did not make ourselves and we have the privilege to be called His people and have the security of being the sheep of His pasture. We have an assurance that the Good Shepherd is watching over us.

Just as those children were about to enter a time of enjoyment, education, discovery and enrichment we too as His children enter a beautiful time with the Lord in His presence.

I am reminded of Psalm 16:11

11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

There is so much more that we receive as children of God in His presence than we may initially realise.

To live a life of praising the Lord is a life well lived.

This week let’s make a conscious decision to ‘serve’ God with a joyful noise, this means going beyond the current difficult circumstances and going by what is true. The truth is, God is good all the time! You have a hope in Him.

To live a life of praising the Lord is a life well lived.

Simply MichMich

We will enter into the presence of the Lord with a joyful praise and with a thanksgiving in our heart. Receive His pleasures forever more and let Him direct you on your path of life. Out-live the difficulties of life and out-praise the loudest circumstance. As His children we have a right to receive from our Heavenly Father what we need.

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19)

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.

This is God’s word spoken in love. Remember The LORD our God, He is good and His mercies endure forever. May the blessings of the LORD overtake you and come upon you and His love surround you, for His glory. Have a blessed week. In Jesus Name.

Be a blessing and share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
